Another pic from a couple of weeks ago. Considering this Buddleja was cut down to about 24 inches over Easter, it's grown incredibly well. Remember to keep deadheading throughout the season to encourage repeat flowers. At the end of season, I leave mine this size over winter and prune hard in early spring 👍🏼 #buddleja #advice-buddleja #shrub #advice-pruning

Gorgeous and bushy! I cut mine down in autumn so the plants next to them get more sun. I don't think it matters to a Buddleja when they are trimmed to keep their shape, just as long as they are cut back they thrive every year. Lovely. I would love a white one and have spied one growing wild on one of my dog walking routes. I can see a cutting coming into my pocket shortly!😊

@midnightgardener - it’s a bit taller than this now, up to roof of annex. I cut it down every year and it puts on all this growth every year 😲

I did the same with mine and they just seem to thrive

I cut back to last years growth but left it a bit later as birds were still eating the seeds left by the flower heads so fingers crossed

Excellent @plantaholic - this one for me is the most vigorous, the others I have take a little longer to respond so keeping my fingers crossed.

@tonyb that's good to know 👍🏼 - I tend to do the same with other plants but hadn't realised the birds go for Buddleja seeds too. I think I cut all the flowers off last year on these to stop them self seeding but perhaps will now leave them 😀
