Morning 👏🏼 doing a little bit of a health check up on my Cannas. I’ve brought them outside now, having been in the polytunnel all year. Some are huge and from a distance look healthy, but I’m a little worried they might have the dreaded Canna Virus. Most imported rhizomes seem to have it now, It can be spread by sap sucking insects and typically causes discolouration and potentially disfigured leaves as it grows. This one is Wyoming which I think seems ok. I’ll take a pic of the leaf.

Good morning! That is interesting; I didn’t know about this virus. From here though they look fantastic 😊
Morning Richard, hope they’ll be Ok.
Morning Rich, hope they’re ok , great colour on those leaves 🍁 Did your foxtail lilies flower, mine have been in same as yours I think and still nothing on mine ☹️🤔
Good morning Richard wow it looks great. I hope it's okay so lovely🤗
Morning Rich, I hope they will be ok 🤔🤔
Hi Richard, I didn't know they could get a virus. Hope you can treat them and they are all ok 🤕

Hopefully they will stay that way too! I’m wondering how prevalent this virus is amongst the plants we buy. I think I will keep the plants if they look virtually like a healthy specimen, but as soon as the colour form starts to disappear or disfigurement of leaves then I think the safest thing to do is dispose of them in municipal garden waste. There is no current cure for this virus ☹️ @awomanonabike @kathy @pelly @fuschia @godfreye @juliesgarden
@Richard.spicer.7906 im glad you have made us all aware of the virus thanks🤗
Thanks Richard. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your plants🤞 - and mine 😉

The Canna rhizomes seems to look ok so far, quite a few new shoots starting to form already. They just need a very light moist soil over winter to just keep them going #overwinter-canna #canna-overwinter #cannaindica #cannawyoming #wintercheck
This is such a pretty canna. I love the color and the leaves @richard.spicer.7906
It is Kim, one of my favourites 😀 - Hoping to create a dedicated Canna bed next year 👍🏼 @kimguy

Welcome back from your wonderful holiday! :) nice cannas.
Beautiful foliage colours Richard 😍😍😍
👌📸👌 mine aren't happy bunnys in there pots any tips 👀😬😜
Mine haven't been too happy in pots either, but I left them out over winter which didn't help 😫 - surprised some survived! Give it a fresh compost perhaps - I add a bit of drainage too. Do you keep yours in full sun or part sun/shade? @Naomi126
I'm in shade at the new place- just lifted the canopy of the trees to see if that helps.. I'm just trudging back with soil for them you must be a mind reader 👌

Awesome💕
It's hard to determine, isn't it?
You can usually see better on darker leaves Canna by looking at the back of the leaf with the sun behind it. This tends to show up the elongated pointy shape of Canna Virus. Some of the photos on the Virus page are ones that I’ve taken in the past. It is more difficult to determine on multicoloured leaves. 😊
Where did you get this one from?
Thanks @cosmicveggie 😀 so you are a Canna fan then? This particular one I’ve had for a while and I think it came from Hart Canna, which I picked up at an RHS show while they were there. I’m sure it was more darker last year although it’s not in the same place this year and might be more partial shade.
Hart Canna is who I worked for 😉, depending when you bought it I may have sold it to 😂!
You get better colour with non green foliage if they’re in sun 😀😊
