The appearance of these beautiful silvery seed heads are one of a few reasons why thistles will always have a home in my garden 😊 #seeds #macro

This creeping thistle is about to set seed, which is dispersed by the wind. I might just cut some of these off as i dont want too many popping up. I like to keep a few for wildlife but not a whole garden full!

I'm going to be brave here, and say - yes, this is a weed. HOWEVER... I believe in creating a good balance of wildlife in my garden and every garden needs some of these native plants to help towards that (in small doses!). This thistle provides food for birds, butterflies and moths, which help build their population to help fight other nasties.

I totally agree. Good for wildlife and beautiful. A double tick in my book. Who need labels!

In which case my garden is very native eco conscious right now. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! 😄
