When it comes to Orchids, I have no idea what I’m doing. A garden club friend insisted I try one so she gave me this about a year ago. To be honest it’s hardly changed in that whole year. Although it’s still alive. I think I need to pay more attention to it perhaps 🙇🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ #coelogyne #coelogyne-cristata #coelogynecristata #orchid

That's a really unusual one Rich. I have moth orchids and another species begining with den lol 😂. To be honest I have them on a south facing window and only water when I think about it! The moths are in flower now and one of the dens has one flower on it. You can get Orchid feed but again, I forget to use it 😁

My friend told me this one is perfectly ok to go outside in the shade in the summer, so I might try that. She has a very, very large pot of it - I mean large - it must have been the same diameter as a standard water butt, but obviously not as deep (a shallow one!) @fuschia

Hi Sussanah - those are apparently Pseudobulbs, the current one is the one with the leaves coming out of it, and the older ones are further down and all wrinkled @Sussanah

@richard.spicer.7906 It is one of the most spectacular orchids. Need bright light and cold this time of year. Pay attention in watering.

That’s great, thanks Christos - I really am a complete novice when it comes to Orchids. What is the best medium to grow it in? It’s currently in 100% orchid bark but I’m wondering if my friend had it mixed in with some soil too as she’s got a huge specimen in a large terracotta pot @Christos

@richard.spicer.7906 only bark is fine but I use also some sphagnum moss. Basically what you need with the majority of the orchids is good drainage, light, airflow and from spring lots of water.
