My Chocolate Cosmos is in bloom finally too - and it certainly does smell of #chocolate 😀🍫👃🏼 #chocolatecosmos #latebloomer
Lovely rich colour🤗
Georgeous colour
Looks yummy 😉
That's absolutely my favourite plant this year. Amazing performer. 👍
Love these 😊

I have one off them and it's just coming into bloom bit late.

The chocolate cosmos has finally decided to sprout and grow.... Clearly it was waiting for warm weather 🙄
It is only the end of July Rich....!!!??!? 😜😜. @richard.spicer.7906
@richard.spicer.7906 goodness I hope mine looks this good in spring... Looking like a bunch of dead sticks atm 😢
Their smell is definitely for a chocoholic 🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫
I planted one of these this year, sadly it hasn't grown but will try again, a beautiful plant
This is interesting - can I see from seed??
I really want a chocolate cosmos! I really should get one.

Potted this up earlier this week. I've grown this before, but never realised it was from tubers. I must have bought it as pot grown. They are tender, so they can be grown like Dahlias and tubers can be lifted at the end of the year before the frosts arrive 👍🏼

Ps - I don't normally wear gloves but it was very cold last week! Planted 15th March.
😱i hope mines survived that i planted out last july
I bought a plant last year, then potted it up in the autumn and it has over wintered in the greenhouse. Didn't realise it was tubers like dahlia. Am waiting, looking for signs of life. Not too hopeful
I've lost mine every year and just bought a new one, think I'll try lifting it this winter, see what happens. I think wearing gloves in the garden is a good idea as you can get some nasty rashes and allergies from bulbs and plant's, can't touch hyacinth bulbs without gloves myself
It's been milder this year than others so maybe it's ok Kris? fingers crossed for you 🙏🏼 @krishnahairdo
Bit of luck Joan that it may just need a bit of time. If it's like Dahlias then might not see anything till May time perhaps? 🤔 @joanboston
It was a complete surprise to me too @katgreen - did a little reading about them last wkd, and they originate from Mexico, so I can see now why they are a bit tender here in the uk. Yeah, the gloves thing is definitely good advice. I do prefer without usually as I really like to get my hands stuck in. But been caught out sometimes - esp with the number of cats that pass through the garden and leave presents for me 😷😒
I've never lifted mine and they've been fine. Have had them for about 4 years I think. They don't appear until quite far on in the season if I remember correctly.
I used to be very much #nogloves (unless I was doing heavy manual work) and loved the feel of the earth but now I'm a #gloves wearer because they provide a little barrier against the strong Queensland sun ☀️ and jumping ants, 🐜mozzies etc.
I only wear gloves when I'm sorting spiteful plants. So fast been lucky with allergies. I nearly commented on you glove wearing @richard.spicer.7906 lately when I saw you wearing them.
Last few flowers of these Mexican beauties ❤️ - now that the frosts are arriving, I will be treating these the same as my Dahlias. They form tubers underground and can be lifted for winter protection as they are not so keen on our colder climate over winter compared with that of Mexico! 👍🏼
Great tip @richard.spicer.7906. I thought they were annuals so have always abandoned mine
I tried without success last year to overwinter mine. It's in the greenhouse again this year (just as well as we had our first frost last night)
I thought they were annuals too, you learn something every day 👏👏👏👏
I still get mixed up with what you leave into dig up for the winter !!! Beautiful cosmos my cosmos still in flower so I'm leaving them in 🤔
@Richard.spicer.7906
Very helpful advice.
