Hi Richard, did these come up for you in the end? I was looking at crocus 'Prins Claus' at Wilko the other day and they look very interesting. I'm thinking of getting these or 'Miss Vain'. ☺
Alas, they were mid labelled and ended up as something else. It may have even been ‘Ard Schenk’. I’ve ended up with four separate pots of the same variety. I’m not bothering with Prins Claus anymore for a while though as I have a similar one called ‘Ladykiller’ - I tried to tell the difference between the two and I couldn’t find anything. May pick it up in the future at some point though 😝 @ublaszko
I’ve been re-potting many bulb pots this last week and bit disappointed with the losses. I don’t think my pots will look as good next spring, esp the iris. I know they have a limited life span in this country but I was trying to save and grow on bulblets but many have rotted/died 😔 @ublaszko - the ones I’ve saved I’m gonna try a new regime this year. Smaller pot, fresh soil, sulphate or potash dose straight after flowering and keep watering minimal and out of the U.K. rain ☔️👍🏼 @ublaszko
That's frustrating when bulbs are mislabeled. I'm still not sure if my crocus 'Fuscotinctus' is the one I have. And my iris 'Harmony' doesn't look anything like what it's supposed to be. More like iris 'Pixie'. The only solution I have is to take lots of pictures so you can ID the corect name in the future. I like your crocus 'Ladykiller' and agree they're very similar but 'Prins Claus' seems to have softer bluish purple blush and 'Ladykiller' has brighter pinkish purple blush 😉
That's a shame about your bulb losses, especially if you lost some of the special ones. 😟 I've had my iris reticulata 'Harmony' for 3 years and still have 8 bulbs out of the original 8. I end up digging them up every year and moving in a new spot so I don't really have a regime other than to feed them with fish, blood and bone straight after flowering. I'm trying to grow dwarf tulip bulblets on but only 5 out of the original 10 are big enough to flower after waiting 2 years.
#crocus 'Prins Claus' - white flowers with purple blush markings on the outside 🤓 #bulbs #pots
Snap. Just potted some of these today too! @richard.spicer.7906
You have been busy Richard, all my bulbs are still in the shed, not as organised as you😂
Snap Ann! 😁 @thomasrat3
My saffron crocus that I potted in march is already up, @richard.spicer.7906 😊 as are the Ornithogallum bulbs that I potted in august!
