14/03/19 - Cyclamen Update - very pleased to see this. When Cyclamen flowers have been pollinated, and eventual fertilisation takes place inside, cyclamen flowers then die off and the bit holding it up starts to coil tightly like a pig tail or old telephone wire. The ovary then starts to swell into a fruit and seeds begin to form inside. Joan/Jane, looks like we’ll defo get some seed from at least one flower, waiting on other two flowers to finish 😄 @joanboston @pelly

That was like a biology lesson Richard....fascinating 🦠🧬🧫
Great news Rich. I've been watching mine but they've nearly all started to flower again 🤔🤔
Rich you are the Don of all things horticulture 🙌🏼🙌🏼
👨🏻🎓love reading what you have to say Richard🤗
😂 I do get carried away sometimes, hope I don’t bore anyone with my nerdness 🤓 all part of the lesson on the birds and the bees 🐝 🐦 @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom
That’s good Jane, more potential for seeds 😁😁 - probably where it’s gone a bit colder, some of my others are starting to flower again too @pelly
Aw, thanks Lexi 😘🤓 @lexijane
I hope so Rich 👍🤔
@richard.spicer.7906 you only get carried away because you’re passionate about what you do....and when we read your posts we’re all wiser for doing so..keep teaching 👍🏼😉😍

01/03/19 - Star Plant Update - I seem to be collecting cyclamen species of late... 🤔🙈 cannot walk away from them. This is the 9th one now, the Lebanon Cyclamen. Apparently fairly frost hardy so I’ll be testing it out next winter I think. Very pretty flowers on these, fused pink edges from white. As it’s a species, it is fertile and will come true from seed, which I hope to collect and sow later this year #cyclamen #cyclamen-libanoticum #lebanoncyclamen #cyclamenlibanoticum
Looking pretty amongst all the other polytunnel blooms right now. So glad they are in here and not being destroyed by the rain ☔️
So beautiful Richard. No rain here, just cold and dank
Your posts are always so informative and interesting, Rich. I love reading about the plants, how you care for them and how you plan to increase your stock. It’s brilliant 👍😍😘 @richard.spicer.7906
Thanks Joan, if I can get them to produce some seed, I can let you have some if you like. Hopefully the rain is staying at bay now, hope it feels warmer where you are soon. Missing the weather earlier in the week 😩 @joanboston
Aw thanks Barbara 😊🙏🏼, glad you enjoy them and hope others feel the same too, always like to ensure the commentary helps others if they want to try the same thing. Hope you are enjoying you hols, and having a good time! @jacaranda
Oh that would be lovely if you could Richard. I have some tiny corms from my silver leafed cyclamen if you would like some
Oh very nice 👍🏼 - that would be lovely. I’ve got some baby Cicilian Cyclamen too that I’ve grown from seed so I can let you have a few of those. I’ll keep them to one side, wait to see what happens with the these Lebanon Cyclamen and keep you posted @joanboston
That’s very kind. Thank you Richard
Back home now but we had a lovely time. I couldn’t wait to see how the garden had fared in my absence, though, as I really missed it!!! Luckily all is well and spring looks as though it’s sprung 💛 @richard.spicer.7906
Such a delicate colour pink it’s lovely Richard🤗
Now I really like this 💗💗
This Lebanon cyclamen has got more flowers than previous years, and the leaves have got much bigger. Hopefully happy as Larry 😄
Such a beautiful colour 💕💕💕
