This is one of my favourite cyclamen leaf forms that I have 🤩. Sadly it has never set seed (i think the flowers on this one seem to be sterile) so I hope I don’t lose it! @novicegardenlover

This is still a mystery to me as to what exactly this is. It doesn’t have the leaves of a normal Cyclamen persicum, or even of one of the many hybrids of florist cyclamen. So I submitted a request to the cyclamen society this morning to see if they can help me identify what it might be. It’s the leaves that fascinate me most! #cyclamen

@richard.spicer.7906 ..... Hello Richard ....... This is fabulous and wonderful ..... the flowers do slightly resemble florist Cyclamen with their frilly edged petals ..... let's hope you can solve the mystery soon ...... terrible weather here in Brighton today ...... VERY dark and raining non stop ..... visits to the beach on hold for the forseeable !!! ......... roll on Summer.

Yes, it’s quite an unusual one. Even the Cyclamen society commented it was an unusual form, but have seen them with this leave form in the wild. They think it is more likely had some cultivated breeding involved so prob not truly wild form, but happy with what it has turned out like @gjones

Hope the weather has improved for you John - been lovely here in St Albans this past week but much colder. Yes, cyclamen society decided it has florists cyclamen genes in it but unusual leaf form so not like the others @johninbrighton

Thanks @islima - it’s not purpurascens though as that would be in flower during the summer. The society I sent my query too think it’s more likely to be florists cyclamen type.

Cyclamen persicum (wild form, allegedly!) this is the best it’s ever been and first year it’s really flowered well. Last year it got a bit distorted so didn’t photo the flowers. The colour has thrown me a bit as I haven’t been able to compare it to other pics but the leaves def are different to the millions of hybrid periscum florists cyclamen you find in supermarkets and garden centres

This is the prettiest foliage of seen on a Cyclamen so far - deep green colour, with deep reddish leaf stalks. It apparently is the wild form of Cyclamen persicum (although I’m still trying to validate this), which is the parent of many of the florist cyclamen you find in garden centres and nurseries now. It’s not hardy, tender and so I’m keeping it frost free outdoors. It hasn’t flowered yet, so keeping fingers crossed it will soon 🤞🏼

I wouldn't care if cyclamen flowered at all, the leaves are interesting enough for me and the flowers are just a + it will be interesting to see this flower @richard.spicer.7906

Hi Richard, I have been working in the garden throwing all of my potted plants away 😥😥😥. They are suffering so much and we are not allowed to water plants and my rain tanks are for veggies only. I felt very sad doing it ,as I worked so hard. Lots of in the ground plants have died too. Have a great Christmas
