It won’t be long hopefully Deborah - mine is only three years old and last year it made tons of flower heads. This year I had to cut out about three quarters so it didn’t smother everything else, so you def won’t have to wait long 😄👍🏼 @DeborahBanks

Thanks everyone 😊🙏🏼 - Echinops are fascinating plants, and they seem to last for ages unopened and then one day they just open. If you want a plant to attract bees, would def recommend it. Although give it space, that was my mistake. I have a blue one too but it’s covered by a rampant perennial helianthus which is even more vigorous @rachelbrooks @kez001uk @rbetts25 @kathy @valjones-hughes @johninbrighton @harebell

Not sure what the best solution is for the black fly Della - I would usually leave it if it’s got lots of ladybirds around but I’ve not seen many this year. You could try a dilute soapy water solution sprayed over the buds perhaps? I don’t usually like the stronger chemicals 😕 @harebell

Thanks Richard,I don’t like chemicals either,I’ve given them a spray with soapy water 💦 they were quite difficult to flush off,I’m just going to leave them,they don’t appear to be doing any harm 😀

My white Echinops is humming 🐝🐝🐝, and has grown massively this year. It's only two years old, and has quadrupled in size compared to last summer.
