Thank you Cherie 😊 @cheriej it’s nice to see an early flower in the garden now. I do feel for everyone in areas like yourself where winter is long, I think I take it for granted that ours doesn’t involve as much snow! Hope you get to see yours soon 🤞🏼

It’s been so cold recently that lots of my bulbs are still in hiding, but I’m sure they’ll come up quickly now that it’s got a bit milder @pelly

Thanks Elise 🤗 - it took me ages to pick a Witch Hazel when I was looking to buy one. I like them all, but some are more fragrant than others. The ones that had an orange glow were my favourite and this was the one I bought 🧡💛❤️ @Auricula

Had a little wander around the garden this morning to see what’s in flower. Startled a sleepy mangy fox unfortunately, although not sure who was more startled me or him/her! Seemed ok and darted off through the hedge. And then noticed my witch Hazel next to hole was covered in flowers! Must plant it out this year, still in a temp pot 🙈

Best combo in my opinion Jane. Although I do like the yellows and reds too. It was always a choice between this variety and another called Jelena but went for this one in the end @pelly

Thank you John, the flowers have opened up more than they were, and this was exactly the effect I was looking. It’s gonna look great in the woodland walk. Where it is now in its pot is roughly where I’ll be planting it. Will have some tall trellis soon in front of the polytunnel too @johninbrighton

I’ve been wanting a Witch Hazel for ages, and I couldn’t make up my mind which cultivar i liked best, then I found one two years ago at Wisley, but then couldn’t get it as out of stock online everywhere I looked. Then it randomly appeared at my local garden centre in November. Just on its own. So I snapped it up quick. I can’t even remember what I paid for it, although I was desperate so it wouldn’t have impacted me purchasing it 🤭.

It has just started to flower. When I was choosing it was between Vesna, and Jelena. Although when I did the sniff test, it seemed Vesna had a much stronger fragrance than Jelena. I’d like to get a red one too at some point but that can wait for now #hamamelis #hamamelisxintermedia #hamamelisxintermediavesna #witchhazel

5w

I’d get one of each colour if I could fit them in Elaine, some of the yellow ones have the strongest scent I think @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

It started off with the colour Vivien, and I decided to go with one called Jelena. It was nice burnt orange look, but when I saw one at Wisley a couple of years ago I was disappointed I couldn’t smell much. Maybe I’d missed it’s peak, but there was one planted next to it called Vesna which was virtually same colour and much stronger scent 😊👍🏼 @sadieberg
