16/06/19 - here’s a section of my lawn 😍💛 - they look like dandelions, but they are not. It’s a type of hawkbit, and it flowers like this every year. It’s usually full of wildlife, and I leave it like this till mid/end of July before I mow it. I get all sorts of bees, hoverflies, moths, and other flying insects visiting here. This is one area of my garden I’d never change 👌🏼 #lawn #plantsforpollinators

Looks fantastic. Any tips for getting started on a lawn like that. I stopped mowing part of mine a month ago and would love it to look like that

@karen13 - thanks Karen 😊 I’ve been doing a bit of reading on this, seems best time is autumn to get prepared, so I’ll rake a patch of my grass quite roughly and add a perennial wild flower seed mix to it and let it sit over the winter months. Needs to have yellow rattle flower in it which will parasite the grass and stop it being too vigorous. But needs the winter to get a cool period before germinating, hence why better to sow in autumn rather than spring. I’ve found the website below really

I've always referred to these as Cats ear, but never been 100% sure. Hope I'm right in thinking def a type of hawkbit - any thoughts?

These flowers only last a day or two, but they certainly look a sight when they come out on mass, and they are great for wildlife too. I leave them to flower for about a week or so before mowing the lawn (well, mostly moss....😆)
