@cropchopntrim I never thought about it. Bearded iris rhizomes do look like ginger roots. Is that what we call it - rhizomes? My brain just went blank. @richard.spicer.7906
Hello @chopchopntrim @jennlamaye , yeah these are the rhizomes of bearded Iris. You would typically plant these so they sit on the soil surface rather than below the soil surface as they like to bake in the sun which encourages them to flower. This one has a main shoot already (top centre) but it also now has 7 baby shoots ready (4 on right, 3 on left) which will grow off into their own pieces of rhizome. I've still got it in a pot right now but when the weather gets warmer I'll plant out 👍🏼
