Indeed! I spotted the other pot of Ixia (Yellow Emperor) just out of shot is awake too, which is even more surprising cause i plantes it last Feb and it didn’t come up at all last year! 😂 maybe they just had a long rest @jeatacake
A very long rest! I get this with some seeds which I know are slow to germinate. Usually ones left outside in a shady, out of the way corner over winter to stratify. Several months or more may go by when I'll check on them & often I'll get the same pleasant surprise! 👍
They do, I’ve had a few like that too. Ps - got your email by the by, was out Friday night and all day yesterday so just catching up so will come back to you later today 👍🏼😊 @jeatacake
26/05/19 - here’s one I prepared earlier 😆 so I bought these a few weeks ago already in growth from Beth Chatto’s Gardens, and they are now flowering at the right time. These will die back soon and then I can begin the summer dormancy process of keeping them dry. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 has anyone else tried growing Ixia in the Uk and overwintered them? Keen to explore how others do it #ixia #ixiaspotlight #cornlily
I got a packet of bulbs from a discount store, planted them in the garden and they just pop up every year but they’re always very floppy. Maybe I ought to start again properly as they are so pretty so I would be interested to see what advice you get Rich 🤔🤔
That’s gorgeous. Love the splodge of jam in the centre 😍 left mine in the border and they didn’t come back. However this is a regular occurrence in my garden so don’t take any notice of me! 🤣
Bit of Ixia popping up from nowhere! Didn’t even see this was already awake 😳 #ixia #ixiaspotlight
So exciting when you see new growth Rich 💚💚💚
It is Marilyn 😊 I just hope everything does well for another few weeks in case the weather turns! @lovemygarden65
Even better when it's something you've forgotten about or given up on 👍
