Okay, apologies in advance for the next few posts - just adding some entries, or plant updates, to my plant lists following the front garden makeover.... I'm expecting this grass to look fiery red by autumn 🍂 #miscanthussinensis #eulalia #miscanthus-sinensis #miscanthussinensisgraziella #miscanthus #silvergrass #grass
Love this grass...

Gorgeous Richard. I haven't got any grasses yet but they are a must for next year. @richard.spicer.7906 😊
Morning Rich , lovely , got a couple of grasses now , really beginning to like them 😍
I love these is it a very big plant 😊
Love grasses 😍 beautiful collage 😆 👍
You should definitely try some @pelly 😀👍🏼 - I never looked at grasses until the last couple of years and now love them.
Morning Julie 😊👋🏼 - me too, I've got about four now I think. Still fairly small but can't wait to see how they develop. What ones have you got? @juliesgarden
I've got a bronze carex and Pennisetum rubra and I like the look of the black mondo grass for next year 👍😊
They will be a fixture in my garden next year Richard @richard.spicer.7906 😊😊
Hi @angiecrazycatlady 👏🏼😬, this particular one is quite big. I had a bit of difficulty getting it in the car hehe. It's just slightly taller than 6ft 👍🏼
Thanks @katgreen 😊🙏🏼 hoping to introduce a couple more over the next couple of years I think.
Excellent 😉 @pelly

A mid-autumn purchase - Miscanthus sinensis 'Graziella' - I've been looking for a grass that has silver white plumes and develops lovely autumn colours for my front garden. This one seems to tick all the boxes 😊 #miscanthus #miscanthussinensis #eulalia #grass #miscanthus-sinensis #miscanthussinensisgraziella #silvergrass
It's a tall one! 😀
👍🏻😍🌾🌾
It's lovely! 👌🏼 I need to incorporate some grasses somewhere...love how they sway in the breeze and glow in the sunlight 😊
Looks like a lovely yard
Ohhhhhhhh me too actually! Where did you get it from? 👊
Me too @rachelbrooks - hoping these will clump up nicely in a couple of years 😬
Thanks @lesliecole49 😊👍🏼 it's a bit of a handful but enjoy working in it
😀 @justin -coincidently, this one was from the local GC - I'd been reading up on this variety for a while and they happen to have them in stock after an impulse visit. But I had been originally looking at them via the Knoll Gardens website, which might be worth a look? Plenty of choice of others too 👍🏼
Really nice.😉 I am just searching for a nice tall grasses like this one for next year. So many choices 🤔
There certainly are Robert - I'm still learning a lot about grasses so not yet familiar with all the main varieties. Any particular ones taken your fancy? @7walnutclose
I would love to vilisit the ''Dove's Cottage'' garden as they have amazing collection of grasses, unfortunately quite far to travel. I am thinking about these, but need to narrow down to two only: Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal' (this one is a definite to buy), Panicum 'Northwind', Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus', Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum', Muhlenbergia capillaris 'Muhly'. What's your thoughts?
Didn’t take many pics of the front garden this year. Everything has doubled in size which means I will need to make some adjustments I think in the spring. This #Miscanthus I’m especially pleased with, it has done exactly what I wanted it to. Picture was taken at its peak in early October time 👌🏼🌾

That is fab, @richard.spicer.7906 I really want to add some in our front garden too, but it's quite windy. Would this cope?
I think so, mine is on the edge near the road, and I’m on a hill so it gets fairly windy at times. So far, I’ve not noticed the wind being a problem, just make sure you give it a good drainage to lighten the soil. It will look a bit untidy if it snows (mine did last year) but it picks up ok after. I cut mine back in early Feb. If you do buy one now, don’t plant it till it’s warmer as it will just sulk. I found this was better than late autumn/winter planting for miscanthus 👍🏼 @Mikekally
Thanks for all those tips @richard.spicer.7906! I'll wait till after the snow's been and gone then. it's really perfect soft screening
Ahhh love miscanthus, Rich, great in a pot too! ‘Graziella’ is not a variety I’m familiar with though. Xx
Monty says plant/move ornamental grasses in May when they start to grow vigorously. I planted my stipa tenuissima in autumn and it didn't do anything for a year 😥 @Mikekally @richard.spicer.7906
Me too Claudia, I’ve a few others that I’ve not yet added to my list, including the delightful nepalense that you have too 😊 - Graziella was a spontaneous purchase at the local GC a couple of years ago. It turned very coppery in the sun @clipperty x
I planted 'Flamingo' a couple of years ago in the autumn, bought at a flower show. Died the first winter, so now I plant them in mid spring @ublaszko 😊
Well... I'm glad I didn't kill mine then 😅 I'm keeping my eye out for miscanthus grasses atm. Or stipa gigantea. I need to add some height to my sunny border. 👍👍
I love the “misty ness” of it
Knoll Gardens website (http://www.knollgardens.co.uk) is a great website to get some grass inspiration. I’ve got a stripy one overwintering in the poly, will find it a new home in the garden soon @ublaszko
