Nerine 'Mr John' syn. Nerine bowdenii 'Mister John', Nerine 'Compagnon Mr John', Nerine 'Companion Mr John'

Ah, so nice to still have a Bernie to show you. I didn’t take many pics for the last few months so missed most of them in October and November. But Mister John is still flowering away. Definitely got the hang of growing these now as had flowers every year on all of my Nerine pots. I’ve put them in the poly now for complete water rest. Then I’ll slowly start again in late March.

@richard.spicer.7906 ........... Morning Richard......... this is a beautiful plant.....I don't think I've ever seen a Nerine this colour before ....... in the past I've grown the pale pink types, but only in the ground, never in pots.

It's really hard to take pics of this Nerine on my phone, the colour is so intense and it always looks better taken on my proper camera but this was the best I could get. Very neon like, and the bulbs are clumping up nicely. I have these in a pot and keep them undercover once the flowers die back as they go dormant till March when the foliage starts to regrow. This cultivar is a little more tender than Nerine bowdenii 👍🏼 #nerine #nerinebowdeniimrjohn

Beautiful color!

They’re quite something, and yeah the purple flash is rather nice. They reckon it’s possibly got some of Nerine sarniensis in its parentage somewhere, and coincidently a lot of hybrids of sarniensis have similar flash markings. But it’s not thought to be reliably hardy and I don’t risk this one yet. Although might test it in couple of years as have a nice clump if developing bulbs forming around the original ones 👍🏼 @rachelbrooks @clipperty @cyndi @lesliecole49 @kimguy

Clearly not one for me to try then, as I don’t seem able to get the Bowdenii to flower! 🙄

Flashback to October, when #Nerine 'Mr John' was in full bloom. I've brought these indoors now for a bit whilst the flowers and foliage die back as this Nerine is a little more tender than Nerine bowdenii. I don't want to lose this beauty! #nerine-bowdenii #nerinebowdeniimrjohn #bowdenlily

This was one of my other Nerine's back in April when I planted them up in shallow pots. 'Mr John' is a hybrid Nerine, and slightly more tender than N.bowdenii - has really deep rich pink flowers. Next pic will be from today as it's flowering nicely 🤓 - Only just getting round to adding it to the database #nerine #bulb #pots #nerine-bowdenii #bowdenlily

@kez001uk This is how to plant your nerines 👍👍 And you can crowd them in as I've done when I repotted mine.
