Thanks Karen & Elise, bought for 50p at a woodland trust festival at our local forest a few years ago. Not sure if the colour is right one but the Antik series of pelargoniums were bred to grow very tall, needing a support structure to climb up,and the local garden centre sells them every year. They get to about 6ft, maybe taller but I’ve never let mine get that big though as it lives in the tunnel over winter @Auricula @KOutdoors
Here you go…. @KOutdoors @Auricula https://www.vanmeuwen.com/p/geranium-antik-climbers-collection/v47616VM - I think mine is actually Antik Salmon, but there isn’t an encyclopaedia entry for that at moment so left it as orange - I think the height description too is a bit short as mine already reached 75cm, and I have to keep cutting bits off. The local GC has them well over 5ft in a glasshouse environment
Well, this may sound controversial but I will always call these Pelargoniums. I'm sure that debate will carry on for many years 🤓. I picked this up for 50p at a charity plant sale - a bargain, and pretty! #pelargoniumnotgeranium
Me too! I added a 'Pelargonium' encyclopedia link to mine but it got changed to Geranium? ! Geraniums are hardy perennials and nothing like Pelargonium. There was an episode of 'Garden Revival' where the presenter got very frustrated by the common misconception. There is no way I want to end up as uptight as him so I bite my tounge and roll with it 😂👍🌱
Yes! I saw the same episode too. When I'm in a garden centre and see a geranium label I always chuckle to myself and think back at that particular episode 😆 @TheGardenWife
I've only ever known them as geraniums but since being on here I can see where you are coming from. I watched a gardening video using pelargoniums to make herbal teas. I drink herbal teas so would love to try them but wasn't sure what's what lol Richard @kathy @TheGardenWife Fab bargain 👍
@fuschia All through my childhood I knew them as Geraniums too and my late great Mum always called them that. So for memories sake it's still an endearing name for them.... Totally wrong arrrghhhhhh! but still very sweet 😍
@fuschia OK so I just Googled 'Pelargonium Tea' and the first link it came up with was 'Benefits of GERANIUM tea' 😂😂 Oh the irony! Defo look into it. The only plant I use for tea at the moment is Lemon Balm so do let me know if your experiments are successful 😊👍
I’m amazed that my climbing pelargonium thinks now is a good time to be flowering 🫤🤷🏻♂️ #pelargonium
Fantastic a Precocious Pelargonium! Love the colour and like Karen I didn’t know of a climbing variety @KOutdoors
