07/09/19 - There are many Pines in Rhodes, particularly the Aleppo Pine. It has very long thin needle like foliage, which helps it adapt to hot climates, preventing water loss by transpiration. Quite a beauty, and many of them with ripe cones that shed seed around, and saplings growing in all sorts of places including rocky crevices like this one on the side of a rocky foundation of a local acropolis.
