Morning, probably should have posted this yesterday but just noticed how my baby cherry tree is doing and the lovely colour it has turned. Some background history (as you may be wondering why I planted this on a public space) - the previous tree (not a cherry) got knocked down on to my drive when a lorry crashed into it eight years ago. The council said they would replace it but never did but gave us permission to plant our own. So we did 😊 - kindly donated by a neighbour who helped plant it

The irony of it all was that the lorry that hit the tree was delivering..... a tree!! 😂 it was going to the neighbour, she was mortified but got a free replacement from the tree nursery 👍🏼 - lovely blossom in spring. And sorry that telegraph pole and lamppost are back again photobombing! 🤦🏼‍♂️ #prunus #prunusaccolade #autumncolour #autumnleaves

Oh my word! 🙈 how funny! Well it’s not, but it sort of is! 😂 Cherry is looking fab! Do you have to maintain it or will the council do it?

There’s more... the guy at the council who responded to us was called Mr Branch 😂😂😂 I kid you not! @rachelbrooks - nah, we have to maintain it for now. Had to water it quite a bit earlier in the year. Trimmed a few branches off. Been really paranoid that kids will come and snap it in half, which is what they seem to do a lot of round here 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ah thanks Sue! I have to confess I think it might be, there’s a few that look half dead and could do with replacing as well but no one seems to be that bothered by these little areas. I’m bought some daff bulbs this year to plant under ours, nothing fancy but should look nice when the blossom returns next year @lilybee

It's a shame that most people aren't bothered about improving the areas they live in but you never know your tree and daffs might just inspire someone else. Look forward to seeing blossom and flower pics in Spring! @richard.spicer.7906

Thanks @Justin 🙌🏼 so lucky to get this tree. Long story, but basically we had another mature tree there in that spot. About 3 years ago a lorry unfortunately hit it and knocked it down and we lost it. A neighbour down the road, who has her own landscaping business, kindly donated this replacement as the highways agency wouldn't give us a new one. It's about 2 years now in the ground.

It's a beautiful tree. I used to live by a park entrance and there were two of these lovely trees either side. Glad your replacement is doing well.

I better get in quick for this wkds GardenTags challenge. No #pink in the main garden at the moment, but my Prunus out front is looking like the #blossom is about to open. It should look great in a few days. 🌸🌸

Lovely tree when I was little the house next door had a very large one in their front garden and I loved it when the petals drop, the floor was covered in a pink carpet.
