Beautiful picture! It's a dronefly not a bee though.

Haha indeed, I know what you mean, but it's honestly no worries for me and helps me learn. I should have realised by the number of wings, so I'm glad he spotted it and corrected. I'll put my specs on next time 🤓👍🏼 @tiggrx @crestiesneuk

I didn't know either, but I suppose he/she does have rather beady eyes. All the better for seeing us with 👀

There's probably lots of wrongly identified "bees"... 😳

I used to see a lot of people incorrectly label or tag hover flies as bees, which to me are much easier to distinguish from these other mimics - purely because of their hover. A bee will apparently always have more than two wings @rusty @brightcolours

Aw, thanks guys! It's a bit early I admit, but I'm glad as I really want to prune it after its flowered before the birds start nesting in it. @latebloomer @lamaisonbleueoleron @fuschia @linfoster @brightcolours @kathy @juliesgarden @Naomi126

@richard.spicer.7906 I have a large laurel in my garden which I need to prune. When is best? Plus I am a bit scared as I read they are poisonous? 😱

@fuschia little does it know it's getting a whopper of a prune this year, so it better start and finish soon as I want to get stuck in before the birds start nesting.

I'll be glad when this week is over. So busy at the mo, and autumn is fast approaching. These #berries have appeared on my cherry laurel.
