Couple of other plants located - very thorny, you'd think it wouldn't have survived back here in all this....

Dunno. But I think that I have plenty of stuff looks very much like it in the new ground we are creating! So do let us know how you get on.

With the way it's growing & how thorny it is , it reminds me of a blackberry bush , but I'm probably wrong lol
.... but it has life! Does it look like a Gooseberry? That would make sense as there are loads of old raspberry canes around here too so it may have been a fruit plot.
Looks like a Gooseberry to me. Was it spiny?
Yes goosegog!
Yes! Definitely had spines 👍🏼 @tiggrx @landgirl
Yep Gooseberry! My favourite 👍🏻

Nice! I guess you'll be making some fresh preserves?
It could be gooseberry I think. Wow if it is, I'm so pleased with myself as I think that's the very first time I ever felt confident identifying a plant ha ha
@richard.spicer.7906.....my husband (being english) will be envious if they grew fruit , as he loves them , but too hot in Queensland!
😂😂😂 @landgirl , long time since I heard goosegog, what my dad used to call them !!
