Slightly different type of propagation - using stolons or runners. Saxifraga stolonifera, sends out stolons to spread naturally. You can cut these off and peg them into some compost and generate new plants. I've used paper clip wire to peg them down. I can already see new growth, these are about 6 weeks on, a bag has been kept over the pot to keep moisture in, and thus no need for additional watering yet #saxifraga #saxifraga-stolonifera #strawberrysaxifrage #propagation #propagation-stolons
I have this plant in my garden Richard ,not heard it called strawberry saxifrage before, but makes perfect sense!
My mom was great with these.... me, not so much! 😂
That looks very much a plant I have, I had it indoors, put it outside in a pot, that fell over, broke and somehow survived in the most unlikely crack between a wall and path, I will go find it tomorrow and see if it’s in flower, will be interesting
Me too Joan, although never got round to planting it yet as the blo*dy vine weevil larvae keep getting to it whilst it’s in a pot recovering. Hence why I decided to cut of the stolons and take them indoors to get some proper roots before venturing back outside. I’ve not heard it called Strawberry saxifrage either @joanboston
🤭🙈 @KariSamuel - I haven’t quite worked out their ideal growing conditions yet but working on it! I think it’s typically moist and shady
