Was a bit slow to flower this year but we got there eventually. Can’t get over how many tiny florets make up this huge firework of a bloom. I confess I couldn’t keep the last one alive as it rotted last winter even though I brought it indoors, so this was a new one I bought in Feb. #scadoxus #scadoxus-multiflorus #scadoxusmultiflorus #bloodlily
What a lovely plant thought it was an Allium love it❤️@richard.spicer.7906
It sooo looks like an Allium doesn’t it Ann? So very similar 😄❤️ @anl
Spectacular!😍 Bloom before foliage, then how long does the foliage last?
Yep, that’s correct @tinaaune the leaves are just coming through now, as took this picture about 4 weeks ago. But it’s been very slow to come through. Not sure I’ve got the watering method right yet as unsure if it develops roots before flowers or after. Keeping my fingers crossed it’s doing something 🤞🏼 think the foliage will stay around till next spring (so a winter grower and summer dormant)
I love that Richard 😍
Thanks Sarah! Bit of a delicate thing, doesn’t like being below 10 degrees so it’s back indoors for winter now. Last time I did that though it rotted immediately, but seems to be ok so far this year @sieveheadsarah
Love this! The one and only attempt to grow this was a disaster, never tried again!🤦♀️🤷♀️💘😍
I’m sure I saw these growing in South Africa a few years ago. Such amazing flowers ❤️ I’ll see if I can find the photos I took 🤞😘
Just lovely Richard
Thanks Shelley! I don’t blame you, I almost didn’t try a second time but I saw them in the shop again on offer. I bought three and only one has flowered, so quite disappointed I still haven’t figured them out 😒 @ShelleySnyder
Ooo that must have been wonderful Barbara! Would love to see a photo sometime if you have one 😘 @jacaranda

Having a #throwbackthursday moment, and found this photo on my phone from October. Shame I didn’t take more, it’s long since finished now. Come back soon please 🤞🏼❤️ #bloodlily #scadoxus #scadoxusmultiflorus #scadoxus-multiflorus
Wow that’s a stunning picture/flower Richard......
Oh wow , what a stunner Rich ❤️❤️
Stunning 😍
Thought you’d bred a red Allium for a mo! That’s a dazzler! 💥
Very cool
💥 pow that’s a beauty 🤩
Just love this one🤩
Wow!
Now that would be something, a red Allium 😍 @rachelbrooks
My blood lilies are just coming out Richard! It’s a total surprise what does and what doesn’t come out in my garden. I have had to pull out so many dead plants died from the extreme heat.

20/05/2019 - cataloguing, always been fascinated by Blood Lillies, so finally found some at Wisley back in February, although only just potted up 30th April #scadoxus #scadoxus-multiflorus #scadoxusmultiflorus #bloodlily
Hmm, wasn’t expecting this to flower now... 🤔 technically it’s late rather than early. It would normally flower Sept/Oct then just have leaves over winter but this was the only bulb that didn’t wake up last year so I guess it’s playing catch-up since I brought them into the house (very tender! So not one for the polytunnel). The other two bulbs just have leaves now #scadoxus #scadoxus-multiflorus #scadoxusmultiflorus #bloodlily
Quite pale too - again, probably due to wrong time of year flowering. It would normally be a little redder than this
That’s fab Rich 🤩
Smasher, lovely to see especially this time of year.
Hi Richard!! Of course, if anyone would pop up with something like this it’s you. I agree probably confused or trying to play catch-up but Mother Nature will help it with your help too! Very pretty flower!!😊💕
That’s gorgeous 😍
It’s like a big red allium Barbara! 😀 Sadly doesn’t last long with the central heating on @jacaranda
Hi Terri! 👋🏼 yep, you know me - always going for the unusual 🤗 hopefully won’t affect it too much. I think they should be going to sleep for dormancy in March so fingers crossed it throws it’s leaves up quickly and gets some energy before going to sleep for summer @terrimclaughlin
It’s lovely on the living room table Joan, certainly a sight for winter time 😊 @joanb
Thanks Julie 😊 now I just need to teach all the bulbs how to flower all at the same time rather than 4-5 months apart 😆 @juliesgarden
😂😂👍🏻
It’s like a firework......beautiful 💥
