I’m still adjusting to this, they were sold as summer flowering corms in the garden centre but I don’t think they are? In the right conditions this have been in leaf almost all year round. On reflection, I’m wondering if they actually may need a summer dormancy, only because it’s shot up new foliage in the last month. So next year I’ll let it die back in May and keep it dry over summer to see if that initiates flowering, which alas it’s never done for me. Bulbs are multiplying though I think.
I've seen these bulbs for sale in a couple of garden centres now, and thought I would try them. I have another Watsonia but that one is winter flowering. These other ones are summer flowering. Has anyone else seen or trying these?
Hopefully Ellen - the garden centre near has really done well this year in stocking up on 'not so common' plants and bulbs. Saves hunting for them on the Internet 👍🏼 @ellenmarygardening
I am working on a plant guide for these at the moment. In Australia they are an environmental weed and the sale of these bulbs are prohibited. Beautiful species but a nightmare to keep contained
