This was our Christmas present from college - prepare your own apical wedge graft on Wisteria and I made two 😀. The rootstock is Wisteria sinensis, which was purchased from a specialist, and the scion material was Wisteria floribunda ‘Alba’ - very floriferous white Japanese Wisteria. I bound the graft with an elastic band strip, and then sealed using a sealing wax which helps reduction of water loss, and prevention of pathogens entering through the wounds. ⬇️

It was then planted so that the graft was just above soil level, taken care not to bend the root - so it’s in a tall thin pot. This will stay in my growhouse over winter until the spring when hopefully the buds will break on the Scion 👍🏼🤓

@ukgardentags @teamgardentags - please can you change the common name of this plant entry to ‘Japanese Wisteria ‘Alba’. Thank you 🙏🏼

Really interesting. I hope they take. I think alba is my favourite wisteria. Although the flowers are the showstopper, the leaves, when new, are lovely too 🌿

Fingers crossed they will Jacqueline @awomanonabike , it's been fascinating learning all these new skills - I've always wanted a wisteria too so an added bonus! 😀
