This is #eryngium Miss Willmott's Ghost. She is viciously spiked. It takes over & self seeds everywhere. But I am hopelessly in love with her & so are the local bees. You need a space for her & be strict to stop her spread.
STUNNING!! Is this Green? I have the #blueseaholly and it is the first yr I've had it. They r just getting they're leaves good and growing fast😍 I saw where u can stop from spreading so much. Can u tell me how u go about it,plz? I need to get #seahollyadvice 😊
@Acetaker Hi. Not every #eryngium is invasive. This cultivar is close to the native form & spreads by seed distribution. So to stop this one spreading you need to remove flower heads before they turn to seed. Miss Willmott's Ghost flowers are as shown in the picture, silvery green. It has an interesting story which you may like to look up. I don't think that you will have to worry much about your perennial cultivated form spreading as vigorously.
I do appreciate the info. When and if she flowers,as it starts to fade and dry it comes to b the seeds? Correct? I will read more on it and I really do appreciate the #seaholly-advice 😍
@Acetaker yes, when they start to look brown & when the bees stop visiting them, the individual florets will have started to turn into seeds. Remove the head before it drops the seed.
