Good evening everyone 🤗 I hope this is not redundant posting about quince but this is the fruit from the inside looks similar to apples but the center is much harder (for you @gjones 💚) #quince #autumnfruit
Evening Rula, I thought it was an apple as I was scrolling up 😄😄
The two of them must be related Katy and Jane. There are some differences though. Like the hardness of the core and the taste, plus mine has something resembling fur on the outside that I have to scrub off. Iām really hopelessly in love with them 😅 @gjones @pelly

Weāve been having rainy days and last night the wind was so strong, this baby fell from the tree. If the winds keep at it I will have to collect all my quince at once.
Oh dear, I hope it calms down soon. Do you make quince jelly with them? 🤔🤔
Thank you Jane. My mum use to make us some when we were young. It was my favourite, but that tree dies and I recently replaced with this one. So, it will take a while for it to produce enough to eat and make jam @pelly
Yes Katy. Now itās the middle of Oct. and itās yellow more yellow than green so I was able to taste it. Itās absolutely delicious 😋 @gjones
Of course, Katy. Iād love sharing my favourite fruit with you. Some how most my favourites are unusual 😄 Have you ever had quince? @gjones
Oh, I wish I can share some with you because their taste is something special. I donāt know if you can find some imported quince or just the jam but Iād love to hear what you think of them, if you ever have the chance to try them. @gjones
I really hope you find some in the market but you know the ones you grow yourself taste so much better. I really hope you like them āŗļø

I can barely wait #quince #fruit
Thank you Katy āŗļø It usually turns fully yellow, now thereās a bit of greenish colour still. Itās always mid to late October as well. @gjones
I have never tasted one & they are not commonly grown here, but this one looks fabulous. 💛
Thank you Jeff, I would encourage you to find one and try it if you can find it. It tastes something between apples, pears and yellow dates. Exquisite 😋 @jeatacake
They sound interesting. I must get to try one & I'm sure I could find space for a small tree too 🙂
That would be great Jeff 👍🏻 @jeatacake
Quince seeds for next year @gjones #quince #quince-seeds
Yes, Katy. I noticed that too 😊 @gjones
I was thinking about these as I have grown apples from seed. I think these will need similar stratification treatment, such as keeping the seeds in the fridge for 3 months to simate winter & trigger germination in what they think will be spring.
I think Iāve read about this somewhere, thank you for the tip Jeff. Iāll make sure to try it 💚 @jeatacake
It Certainly won't do them any harm & I guess your winter are not really cold enough?
Thatās true Jeff. Plus we havenāt had real snow in a few years so the temperatures do not drop below zero for long. The main concern is the pre-spring winds that could definitely harm unprotected plants. @jeatacake
Wow! It's hard to imagine you would ever get any snow at all or temperatures below zero there. It must get very hot in summer. Close to 40C?
Exactly Jeff. Sometimes the summer heat could be dangerous but we had a few winter snows in the past which only last a couple of days. Nowadays it seems like global warming has stolen that from us. @jeatacake
That's a shame. Where I am, there was no proper snow at all last winter & only 2 average snowfalls the winter before. Also, still no frost here even though it's late October. Our summers are still not great though! 😕
I hear you Jeff. The climate is not predictable or usual anymore. The garden is only one of the effected parties. @jeatacake
Yes, very true. There are much worse consequences to come, especially in low lying areas 😞
I know, Jeff. We had an incident last year that was unusual and led to fatalities. We do what we can and hope for the best 👍🏻 @jeatacake
