Finally the pear/apple jack is finished and ready to be thoroughly enjoyed!! #gyo #pear #homemade #hooch #smallbatch #partytime

Yes..plezz.. recipe 😊

Sounds delicious! 🙂

What's in the bucket?

The bucket is filled with ground up pears, and some apples @heatherdirtyhands the juice to make jack with

The recipe is very basic, from colonial times, George Washington used to make apple and pear jack. Grow some fruit, harvest, juice or press fruit, add some sugar, ( to boost alcohol), add fermaid, add some champagne yeast and let it ride!! Freeze outdoors, remove ice, repeat. @heatherdirtyhands @anges @crabby58 @columbiariver what doesn't freeze, is delicious alcohol pear/ apple jack!

Why is it so brown? Are the pears and apples just turnibg that color like over ripe ones? And why is it called Jack? I thought it had something to do with Jack Daniels lol

No idea why it's called jack, maybe cause it'll jack you up, hehee, @heatherdirtyhands most apple cider, pear ciders are a brownish tint when juiced

Lol I wanna get jacked!! And I just asked because it looked so thick I thought it was caramel or something

I see your zone 6 where u from?

Worcester, Mass @heatherdirtyhands hbu?

I live in pgh pennsylvania

About 10-12 lbs of pears have turned into 7 half pint jars of pear butter. #homemade #pearbutter #gyo

That's great. 👍 Canning is a lost art β€β€ @saco

I bet thatβs delicious

Thanks all @dirtgirlworld @crabby58 @aprilll @sieveheadsarah pretty tasty, kept it simple, lil vanilla, cinnamon, brownsugar, orange peels, and crockpot did most the work

Yum

Yum! I'll have a go at this I think 😀😋

O yes please 🙂

Haha !! I thought it was chocolate ice cream & thought man those are big buckets !! 🤣🤣

It's 5:00 somewhere 👍

@sherrisgarden 😆 I thought the one on the left was filled with clay & the other one looked like a chocolate milkshake

@saco Pear Cider sounds delicious! 🍐

Ok so I wasn't alone on that @kypie8 🤣

I've had hard apple cider and apple Jack, but not pear, sounds good I'll bet it's sweet

@sherrisgarden Definitely not alone on that 😂!

#pear of the day. #gyo #freshpicked #massachusetts #fallcrops

I've come to the conclusion that my pears are asian pears, roundish, crispy and brown rough skin. Best for cooking. Unfortunately they have been hit with a nasty rust and I'm going to have to have them taken out. They are nice older trees and I've never gotten more than a couple pecks of good pears off them. On the brighter side, I'll get a lot more sun on that side

These trees are 30+ years old now!! @cyndi

Haven't picked one off the trees yet, just gathered up some of the nice ones from the ground this afternoon. #pears #gyo #bigyield #fallharvest #freshisbest #massachusetts

This photo gives me great pleasure. My grandmother had a pear tree on her farm. She raised cattle and when visiting, we were to pickup all the pears (too mealy to eat) and feed them to the cows. My grandmother laughed at us "city girls" as we would hand feed the pears to the bravest of the herd. 😂 Oh we always had such fun. After a long time of this, some got so used to us, that when they saw us, they would come running and bringing the whole herd with them. 😂👏👏 Thanks for the memories. 😋

🤤 I mean... if you want to send some my way... I won't complain 😅 haha

Thanks for sharing your wonderful "city girl" story, love it! @lovestogarden glad this pic brought back some good times for you. I really could us some cows to help eat them, so many go to waste it's shameful!

@rosechilders101 come pick as many as you like please!

Those Pears look Yummy Saco! 😋👍

What about making some pear butter, or even easier, can them in a light syrup. You could give them as gifts. 🤔 Just a thought.
