@pelly about 5 ft but it is easy to trim it in august so it doesn't swamp everything . So many varieties alba is one of my favourites along with dusky bells

@jacaranda live on heavy sussex clay .i have taken steps to make the soil more friable and a little more neutral . As house was built on old farmland so the soil was limed to break it up . Repeat dressings of grit and compost twice a year freed up the soil enough to grow this easily . As it does not get pests and diseases its a winner

@jacaranda if you take a trip to cookscroft on his open day john williams has a lovely nursery with many different types . His garden is fab
