I am over-wintering these assorted varieties of #scentedgeranium as usually buy new each spring cos winter kills them! But on my bathroom windowsill they are becoming leggy whilst lower leaves turning brown! I water each time they dry out but am struggling to keep them as happy and healthy as I see others! Please all advice is welcome! #novice #simonsaysflowers

I took cuttings from mine and am overwintering on my kitchen windowsill. They are doing really well. It might be worth trying that, it shouldn't be too late. Only use the thicker stems though. If you look on my profile you will see the photo I posted today. ☺☺. @simonlycett

Pinch back! They'll put out new & become full & bushy in time for spring. Keep pinching.

@simonlycett I keep my geraniums indoors in an unheated room with plenty of light by an East facing window from about late October, and put them outdoor again when the weather permits, which is about late May down here in Brighton. I only water them just enough to keep them very slightly moist. I usually cut them back to tidy them up in about February. Hope this may be of help. Good luck.

They are looking great, far better than mine, almost lost mine this year, too slow almost nicked by frost. @simonlycett

I think they are leggy growers anyway @simonlycett I have exactly the same problem. I've just cut mine hard back and brought some in from the greenhouse, but I take cuttings and bin the woody ones. They are so easy from cuttings and grow too big after a couple of years.

Do I need hormone rooting powder to strike #cuttings @Patiorose @pelly or can I do without?

I never use it @simonlycett I just put them in around the edge of a small terra pot in multi purpose compost. I get about 2/3 to root. 😀
