Mammillaria bocasana

This little cactus continues to impress me, thought it was dead when I got it in a damaged shipment in the dead of winter. But it stayed alive, even bloomed for me being the first cactus to ever bloom for me and now it's about twice it's original size

Lol I remember those hooks 😂 My mum used to have one when I was little and without fail I would always end up with multiple hooks caught on my hands because I insisted on running my hands over the plant... My bad getting nostalgic here but gorgeous cactus either way 😊 @Soja412

Lol I had a similar experience with my dad when we were over at one of his buddies, in the middle of their yard stands a little chubby cactus with lots of straight spines. My dad tells me how important it is that I not touch this plant and to be very careful when playing near it. After a few hours of inspecting the plant and being very curious I decided to wrap my hand around the cactus and grasp it. Leaving like 20 painful spines in my hand, I cried some then hid my hand because...

I didn't want to get in trouble with my dad. Get in the car to go home, about half way home my dad notices something is off and asks me and I burst out in tears and show him my hand, he immediately pulls over to start removing spines and to chuckle and shake his head at me @belle1988

I'm starting to rethink my ID for this cactus, originally all the spines were hooked but now most have straightened out so I'm thinking they were just hooked bc of being packed and shipped. Any #plantid-cactus guesses?

I think I'm getting another bloom coming in!!! Looking at some pics zoomed in and I saw a tiny hint of pink! Ahhh so excited! this might be my new favorite cactus shh don't tell the others

Blooming 😍 how long does a flower stay around for on a cactus??

It can vary but usually not too long.. one of mine only flowered for a few hours and that was it, granted that was on a crested and apparently it's rare for those to flower. A couple of my others went for a week give or take. Keep a close eye on it 😉

Thanks @lexicon I've been checking on it hourly haha just in case I want to fully enjoy it, but I hope it's one that sticks around for a little 😊

I will get better pics tomorrow but checking on everyone before bed and I saw a little bit of pink 😍😍😍 I thought I would be waiting awhile before getting to enjoy my first cactus bloom
