Successfully #grown-from-seed - thank you Garden News. A lovely companion plant for others. I've grown them for cut flowers and apparently a tasty light peppery flower that can be added to breads for extra flavour with a touch of colour.. cataloging..
Sarah .. I'm learning all the time, the more I read about the culinary aspects of flowers the more I want to display and/or eat 😊.. a good substitute for saffron when colouring rice dishes too.. @sieveheadsarah
Calendula also have healing properties Mark and are good for the skin, I’ve not tried, but there’s lots online about it, Nasturtium are also edible and peppery tasting, apparently the leaves can be used to make Pesto 😋
And good for insect bites. I have a calendula ointment for Pudgycat. I used it when she got stung by a bee. @solly1961 @sieveheadsarah I sowed my first calendula seeds last night for some late summer interest.
I thought I'd risk more orange after the orange pansy success 😂 @sieveheadsarah I bought a bunch of veg and flower seed packs in Lidl a few weeks back as they were going for 29p each.
Sounds like we can start a calendula revolution 😂.. definitely going to sow more seeds if late summer value, I'm bound to get stung/bitten too sometime this year.. @ublaszko @sieveheadsarah
