Can I ask your advice please, how do you tell the difference between an azalea and a rhododendron? I'm getting more and more confused! 😕

Sylvia, it's not straightforward... "All azaleas are rhododendrons but not all rhododendrons are azaleas. Azaleas have been reclassified and are now in the genus Rhododendron. There are no clear cut lines for distinguishing all azaleas from all rhododendrons but here are a few characteristics to look for. True rhododendrons have 10 or more stamens which is 2 per lobe. Azaleas usually have 5 stamens or 1 per lobe. Azaleas have 5 lobes in a flower."

I never mind a second flush of flowers from a plant that not supposed to do so. :) my magnolia does that sometimes.

I have an Azalea that flowered through to late winter and is now coming back into flower! @sue1953

@kathy the azaleas are spot flowering at the moment due to our extended warm season this year which is fine by me but in spring the bushes will be covered in flowers 🌸🌸
