It's been a while since I posted a photo of this #jimsonweed that I grew #fromseed this spring. I'm still mad at it for not being the datura I was expecting. However, it is officially the first plant I grew from seed and got a flower from, so I guess I'm not too terribly mad at him after all. The eleven white #datura-seedlings are pretty tall now, maybe 3-4 inches. This variety seems to respond to light much more than the other variety. 12 Apr 2020 soaked some #doubleblackcurrentswirl #datura seeds (sent to me by dearest @cyndi) in some water overnight and put a bunch of them in this pot along with some white datura seeds I'd collected years ago. I get on my hands and knees daily to examine the surface of the dirt and search for sprouts. Nothing yet. Sigh. #fromseed #growyourown #gyo #seedstarting #grownfromseed #ihope

I deasheaded the #jimsonweed and removed all the seed pods to make the plant give me more flowers. These pods are immature but there were still enough of them to fill a one quart pot. I'm not intending to grow this again next year, so I don't want it reseeding itself. 15 Aug 2020 #jimsonweed #thornapple #seedpod #ouch
One thing that I discovered about garden chores is that I come upon moments of wonder and beauty and discovery that I wouldn't have encountered otherwise: such as the ruffly cups on the undersides of these spiky pods. I love how they catch the light.
