I peeked into the tree tube to see if the #pussywillow #cutting I planted showed any signs of rooting. I told a friend of mine how soggy the ground is and she said she bet it would still root. It took me over an hour to dig a 14" hole. My yard was once a quarry, so the soil is super difficult. This area next to the driveway gets really soggy after it rains, so I'm hoping the #willow will root there and soak up some of the water. It's my first shot at #propagating #pussywillow by #cuttings. My hypothesis is that I should plant short fat cuttings rather than the entire long branch -- because the long branch could put out a bunch of leaves which would then leak all of the moisture out of the cutting before the roots develop. So I chopped off the thickest parts of the #willow branches, and I'm gonna see how it goes. #advice welcome 3 Mar 2024 #salix
