Really struggling with snails this year. Wool pellets & copper bands don't seem to be as effective as they were last year. Anyone got any tips?

I have seen quite a lot of comments saying cider or beer are good, I assume you would put it in shallow bowls. Might be worth a Google!!

Thanks. Yes I've heard of that and also hollowed out grapefruit halves for slugs. Might have to give them a try

I've put egg shells around all of my hosta and delphiniums (do have to keep topping the barrier up) but I've seen a massive reduction. Someone told me about beer traps I've kept a few shallow tins to do this with but never get round to it also thinking about how to keep the rain water out of them...

@Hellebore thanks for that. Egg shells sounds interesting - Might give that a go then. Someone else recommended upturned grapefruit shells for slugs. Apparently they find them irresistible but they're also toxic to them. A friend with an allotment said because of the mild winter they are particularly bad this year.
