Beauties 👍 Mine I've grown from seed are just starting to flower now 😊
Impressive, grown from seeds Jeff! 👍🏻 I only did two seed plantings this season,Nasturtiums and Sweet Peas. Sweet Peas are doing great,🤩well I think great haha and the Nasturtiums, not so great😔 only one flower and a few have died. But that won't stop me, keep on trying. Practice Makes Perfect i here 🤣 @jeatacake
Oh I've been doing it for years & collecting seeds from almost everywhere I've been. I love it & it gives me great satisfaction, especially when I can succeed with difficult ones. Sorry to hear about the nasturtiums. Do they have plenty of leaves? If so & few flowers, it may be that the soil is too rich. These & some others flower better in poor soil surprisingly as long as they're well watered.
Hmm, yes they have a lot of leaves. I may have to change the soil then. It gets plenty of water though. Thanks Jeff @jeatacake
@jeatacake Collecting seeds on travel must be very interesting. And then to watch it grow, very cool. I found it amazing watching my seedlings grow and mature. Total satisfaction and accomplishment for sure! 👍🏻😊
You're welcome. Geraniums do the same. All leaves & almost no flowers if too many nutrients.
Those obtained in tropical locations are the greatest challenge for sure. Getting them started, especially in a heated propogator is nowhere near as difficult as getting them to survive our dull & miserable winters, even indoors! Great fun trying though & all new ones are always fascinating 😊
@jeatacake ,Really Geraniums also need crappy soil. Mine are doing good but I do have a couple that don't have lots of blooms like the others. 🤔 and I mix my own soil so... I couldn't imagine growing tropical from seeds. It's hard enough to keep mine going whether are already started. Especially in this heat. I mist them a lot and some I have drainage tray with rocks and water that the plants sit on. I bought a thingy that tells me how humid it is or isn't. But I❤️the tropicals like Bromeliads
It's the cool temperatures & lack of sunlight that tropical plants don't like & makes the really struggle here. You'd have much better chances there 👍
I do ok with tropicals but they are already established. Seeds not so sure but it's worth a try. They don't like how it's not humid here though. Makes them angry lol @jeatacake
Ha ha, angry tropicals! 😡🌴😡🌺😡 Lol!
