Why aren't all the buds open?

They will be soon. Beautiful peony. The flowers are huge. If you don't use them inside make sure to cut off the spent blooms.

Maybe you need more ants. ;-)

What does that do?

The ants help to remove the nectar that is around the bud as an encasement. Thus allowing the flower to bloom
