Vaccinium macrocarpon is the traditional festive cranberry. Vaccinium microcarpon is the wild berry found in Scottish wetlands, cranberries will grow circumboreal in North Europe, North America, extending to low artic tundra regions. All through Alps and most southerly, Japan. Vaccinium oxcycoccus is the most common wild cranberry found. It has a sprawling habit.
