I'll be trying some new treats with hips once I'm back from my trip. I can't wait 😉 👌

@lamaisonbleueoleron sounds great, but make sure you remove all the hairs from round the seeds as they are irritants.

@RicardoListeretti I wondered if you (or anyone else) might know what this rose is? It resembles a white-flowered Dog Rose with leaves pretty much the colour of an Alba. It forms a tall upright shrub. Apparently the previous house owner bought it at a car boot sale #PlantID

Looks like a Rosa rugosa Alba. Are the needles on the plant fine yet very prickly?

@MelanieAt it's not as coarse as a R. rugosa, with smaller leaves and flowers and the needles very different.

Hi @tiggrx - any blush flowers or all pure white?

@RicardoListeretti no they are all pure white.

With the combination of white flowers, refined grey foliage and upright growth my first instinct is Rosa fedtschenkoana - one of my favourite species roses btw.

@RicardoListeretti thanks, that certainly looks possible. I did compare it with the description in the European Garden Flora and it differs in several points. However, I read somewhere that the plant called R. fedtschenkoana in gardens is not the real R. fedtschenkoana! I'm not sure which plant the book's description was of.

You know there is a single Alba rose. Simply, Rosa Alba as opposed to maxima or semi plena - a lovely garden worthy shrub but seldom grown. Does your rose repeat flower at all?

@RicardoListeretti I wondered if there was, I've not found any mention of it though. I don't think it does repeat.
