I have one of these beauties. I also have the scarlet salvia and the main difference is the red one spreads like crazy and the purple is still the only one. What might be the difference? Thank you.

Hmm, @Gabriella9 is your scarlet variety a perennial possibly? Do u mean it's bushier than or actually growing from the ground/root system spreading, could one be reseeding possibly?

Oh yes reseeding, popping up everywhere. Nice and bushy. The purple struggles with a few branches, had one bloom cluster last year and one this year.
