I have some m in my Reed grass. It can compete very well with that Reed grass. However the reed grass is a native one and not canary.

Invasive here too, it's all over but not in my gardens this patch is on my hillside by the road that I maintain a little and add a few natives here and there, I pull when it gets too much @gjones

Well at least u have the native @laketitlow that's always a plus💚
With one straggling late goldenrod blooming i managed to spot my first ever locust borer, a truly gorgeous longhorn beetle, technically not a native insect but has moved north with the spread of the non native black locust trees, it's only host. They love to feed on the pollen of goldenrod as well, I was honing in on a beautiful wasp and luckily discovered this one. Notice the striping to resemble a wasp for protection. #locustborer #insects #insectstinaaune #wildlifewednesday #batesianmimicry

Great photo😃
I believe they're as far as southern Canada, but remember that your tree is also out of native range so they will follow , they say it's best not to keep them as specimen trees and rather plant them in a mixed stand of trees and that healthy trees have a better chance of survival, stressed damaged trees are always the first to be victim, there are sprays but always consider the pros and cons... good luck and keep an eye out Katy @gjones
Also more likely to spot them in fall so watch your goldenrod @gjones 🌝
And now I know wht I've been taking pic of on the goldenrod. Thank you!
I thought it was a pretty wasp too. I'll have to check my goldenrod!
