How spectacular!! Are these beauties easy to grow?

@txgardener I planted a bunch of seedlings I grew along a patch of the fence, they had it covered in a year, I don't water them or feed them... They just grow and grow 😁 It's a host plant for the goldrim swallowtails. It's covered in caterpillars all summer, but it regrows so fast, you can't tell they ate any of it!

I did know it was a host plant to swallowtails. That's what sparked my interest!

This plant is on the back side of the arboretum that I take walks on; and I always feel that I’m on an alien planet whenever I pass by it. Lol.

Is it yours? You sent me some seeds for this last year, nothing I tried last year lived. I have a few left but don't think I planted them this year.

It might be a good idea to try them, they could be perennial here

@lesliecole49 yep, I have it covering both sides of the yard. It's a butterfly host plant for pipevine swallowtails and goldrim swallowtail butterflies 😁 if you need more seeds let me know! I have lots!

Oh dear, Theresa that's like letting a kid loose in a candy shop! This year I planted several that you sent me last year. All my seeds died last year, probably due to operator error, but the ones I started this year are doing much better. I've planted several of the hibiscus seeds you sent me but havent seen signs of life yet. I know I'd like the red passion flower, (lady Margaret?) Or any passion flower. Let me look thru your plant list.

Do you still have the variegated angel trumpet, or bee blossom seeds? Or the poppy flowered anenome?

Lol! @lesliecole49 The anemone are bulbs, no seeds, I did not collect seeds in time from the bee blossom, they may sprout somewhere 🤔 and my variegated angel trumpet got hit by spider mites, she's recovering 🤕 The passion flower will have to be a pup, I sold all the seeds!

You sent me some seeds of these last yr. Nothing came up well for me last year but I'm sure there's more seeds. I'll try again.

@lesliecole49 the seeds can take up to 3 months to germinate, they need to be warm... 80+degree temps, but not full sun, and kept moist... 😉

@PunkyKy no secret, it can take 2 months for some to germinate, I have had better luck with starting them in the spring, I use a light potting mix, in a 4inch pot, sprinkle in a few seeds, lightly cover with more soil, water, keep them moist, and then be patient 😉 I always have lots of seeds to start, so I have a lot going on at 1 time, helps keep them maintained, I'm forced to make sure they stay watered too!
