I live in N.Central Florida zone 9, where its easy to garden year round ππΏπ»πΊ
My backyard is a sanctuary for all critters! π¦ππππ·οΈπΈπ¦
Can you please give me tips on how to grow basil seeds. I've failed three times in germinating them. I used normal sandy soil, cocopeat + soil + vermicompost and sand only. But the results are very bad, nothing grows. I emptied entire packets of mint basil, dark opal basil, lettuce leaf basil, Italian broad basil, sweet basil and Thai basil but only 5 seeds germinated and they too are weak @treefrog44
@kaporyash sounds like your seed starting mix is good, next what temp are you growing them in? They do best in 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit... Now moisture: the soil should be moist not too wet or dry... Lastly light, what type of light are you giving them? If outside, morning sun afternoon shade. Did you add any fertilizer to the mix? If so it may be too strong, The age/ quality of seeds could be a factor.
Here temperature 🌡οΈ is 86 -105 f @treefrog44 I spray water in morning and it evaporates by 3pm and soil becomes dry so I again spray water at 5pm and I've kept them on roof in full sun where they get 4hr of direct sun and then bright light upto 5pm

@kaporyash https://herbswithin.com/basil-temperature-tolerance/ you cannot let the soil dry out during the germination process
Ok thanks have you mailed the seeds ? @treefrog44
Yes, @kaporyash I have no idea how long it will take to get there!
