Hi Jacqueline, thanks for your comment. After doing a google image search I don’t think it’s a dwarf rhododendron but it’s close. I moved into this property last year and was in awe of this plant when it revealed itself a week or so ago. The plant was already here from the previous owner, there is another in the garden with a more purple tinge but it hasn’t bloomed as well.
