Amateur gardener with a growing obsession for horticulture, I'm not an expert but I've learnt so much from just having a go π¦πππΌπ»ππΉ
Out of 10 dahlias grown for the first time this year , this is number 8 to start producing flowers , it's only just starting to open I cant wait to see it in all its glory #dahlia #hayleyjane #dahliaday 👌👌💕💕
Haha that is spooky @Urshy63 but it's a beautiful daliha isn't it! 😁 @pelly Jane mine was much slower than any of my others too! Not sure why as they all went in together ! Strange 🤔 but it'll be worth the wait 😁
@Urshy63 Ursula I have to do a lot of jiggling about next summer with my Dalihas! When I planted them this spring , I had no idea what colours each tuber came from so I've ended up with orange next to pinks and reds next to purple oh and I have 1 yellow one lol I must make sure I put tags on them this autumn 😁
That's relatively easy to do tbh @Urshy63 just leave them in the pots till the frost has turned the leaves black or at the very least died off, then dig out the tubers and give them a thorough rinsing to get rid of all soil (or vine weevil larvae ) dry them off with a paper towel and leave them to thoroughly air dry somewhere warm. Once bone dry wrap In newspaper and place somewhere dark till spring and pot them up in 3 ltr pots .
Keep pots somewhere dry and warm untill all signs of frost has past and allow plants to grow on well before planting them where you want them to flower 😁 hope this helps Ursula oh and most importantly... make a note of the colour and name when you dig them out! 😁s
You're welcome 😁 but alternatively you could leave them where they are and just top dress @Urshy63 I'd do this with my pots but I have had terrible attack of the vine weevil s hence why I dug mine out! This year I may just treat soil with vine weevil killer in August and leave them but I'm still in decided as yet 🤔😁

It's my first go so I'm really chuffed to get such great results the challenge is to preserve them all for next year 🤞🤞🤞🤞😉😉 @cazz47
