Classic beauty 👌🏼 - Eucomis bicolor is quite hardy apparently so many have seen them come back from winter. I haven’t been brave enough to leave mine out, I should do really but as I bring all the others in I hate to leave it outside on its own 😂

I really wasn’t sure what to do @richard.spicer.7906 but eventually and tentatively left it out! It wasn’t an easy winter but it survived - and looked fabulous with frost on it! (Scroll over)

And they’re back. It was such an unusual summer last year I wasn’t sure these would make it here over time but they’re back and I am absolutely delighted. #eucomis #pineapplelily

I think my #desertislandplant THIS YEAR would be #eucomisbicolour #pineapplelily I got so excited when the leaves first showed. I loved the spotty leaves and the purple edged ones. The anticipation for the flowers was intense and I loved them when they arrived. I loved that they were great insect magnets for such a long time. When the frost came early they looked stunning. Finally I collected the dried flowers and put them in pretty glasses around the house so I continue to admire them.

I've got these to do this year, I hope I get as much enjoyment from mine as you have had from yours Val 💗💗

Yes Angie @angiecrazycatlady it was plant, water, watch and wait. I think this summer might have helped, it will be interesting to see how they cope with a normal Welsh one!

I got mine from @rachelbrooks - she’s a gem - it’s their first year so 🤞🏻 for year 2. Really healthy and full of leaf just no flower! @richard.spicer.7906 possibly knows? X x x

Eucomis bicolor will definitely return for many years and you should get new bulbs forming too. They can soon clump up. Unfortunately mine are habitual sleepers and take forever to wake up. The leaves are not fully out and one bulb has not even worked up yet 😳 @valjones-hughes @clipperty

The labelling wasn’t very specific Jaqueline @awomanonabike (a real cheapie) but it looks like it. I’ll have to wait til it’s fully out though to know for certain. Chuffed with it whatever the variety!
