Love this elder for leaf colour,I’ve just cut all my flowers off,after pruning it back to a certain height. 🤔

That's pretty Val! Always a bit wary of elders, is it well behaved? I'm afraid of it suckering and coming up in the paving and gravel if it's in quite a narrow border.

Hi Tash. I have two, neither of them, this one and black lace. They take well to pruning so you can keep them to the size you want. They make a great background shrub in a bed because of their colour. I’m really happy with mine.

@Leroybe it might go again, I did the same one year and I got some late flowers. It’s a great colour, mine is next to my black lace and although it’s not as vigorous the contrast is lovely.

@valjones-hughes yes I usually get a few late flowers but sacrifice all the early ones,funnily enough I’ve got the same two next to each other.....love the contrast! 😊

Thanks @jendren @greenfinger14 interesting that it’s so purple at this stage. It confused me because it’s right next to the ‘black lace’ and looks almost as purple as that but I know it will be yellow gold when its in full leaf!
