Time for a update. Been here for 5 years now so the garden is no longer brand new. It’s still windy, it’s still stony and I still have so many plans.

@valjones-hughes Depends. Do you want something big, small, fragrant?

Biggish, not to worried about fragrant, scent tends to get lost amongst everything @Christos

@valjones-hughes Try a cymbidium. Easy to care and very rewarding

Trozy blue is back. Thrilled that my move on from moth orchids is, at least for now, flowering. The first bud is open and wonderfully fragrant. Thanks for the advice @Christos and the good luck wishes @terrimclaughlin both worked! #houseplantsjoho

Thanks Terri, have been very lucky with my moth orchids, with successful propagations and keeping them growing and flowering repeatedly so I’m going for a challenge. I hope I can show it again soon - even though a couple of buds had, disappointingly, been knocked off in delivery🤨 🤞

@valjones-hughes First of all congratulations for the new arrival. Tomorrow you will be able to smell her amazing scent. It is very fragrant. Now about the care. 1. Do not repot at this time. The best season is spring. Personally I repot all of my orchids when new growth and new roots appear. 2. They need bright but not direct sunlight.3. Water it very very well with room temperature water. Allow the medium to dry slightly but not completely between waterings.

@valjones-hughes 4. Be extremely careful with the water on the leaves. They can easily turn black or develop black marks. If you like to clean them use a moist but not wet cotton bud or a microfibre cloth. 5. Be aware for mealybugs. Some times can be really bad and they hide underneath the leaves or behind of the petals.

@Christos Thanks - great advice. I’ll check it well for mealy bugs today and find the best light clearly not on the south side of the house.
