Further to my previous post about this plant. The top half is showing as it should do #clematis-princess-diana The bottom half is growing as a different clematis. All from the one stem coming up from the ground #confusedplant #confusedgardener
@pelly
How odd 🤔
Looking back at your last years posts you had same then looks like two for one 💞
Glad they don't both flower at the same time @lexijane 😂
It's definitely an oddity @keely
Very curious 🤔 at least it's got the right flowers at the top 🌸
@vec how interesting and impressive 👌💖

This is what has come up this year where #clematis-princess-diana grows. I have no other clematis planted in this area, there is just the one stem coming up from the ground. Is it possible it has reverted back to parentage or even that it was a grafted clematis ?
I had to have a look at this, Princess Diana is a cross between clematis texensis and Bees Jubilee both of which are pink 🤔
I googled the same and found out about bees jubilee but that looks more like pink with a lighter pink stripe @pelly I'm very confused 🤔
That’s what I thought about the pink, can you see the graft? 🤔
How unusual 🧐
It's pretty but, that's got to be a bit irritating/interesting/surprising, to have something completely different than last year come up
@pelly, looking back at a previous photo, it was right at the very bottom of the plant last year. Maybe I've got a weird double plant. I can't see anything obvious at the base except one stem coming out of the ground
Very strange. It will be interesting to see what it does next year 🤔

#clematis-princess-diana has decided that rather than climb up the provided trellis, the #trachycarpus-fortunei is much more of an interesting climb as are the bamboos next to it 😂 I shall leave her to her own devices
Wow, I bet that will look fantastic Julie 😍😍
Just got to let them get on with it sometimes @pelly Could be an interesting colour combination as I've planted some red feather ipomoea in the bamboo pots with the intention of them climbing across the bamboo. Don't know if it will work though 😂
I hope it does and I'm looking forward to seeing if it works 👍👍

These weren't open yesterday #clematis-princess-diana with an unknown clematis below that I don't remember planting
Oh wow you were only saying that you were waiting for yours to open up nice to get a surprise one in bottom too
I'm baffled by that one @keely I'm sure I didn't put it there as I wouldn't have tried to distract from the beauty of Princess Diana 🤷♀️
Wonder if it was in same pot when you planted Di strange!
Very pretty and lovely photo too 😊😊💕💕

Cataloguing. Another delivery of clematis in Morrisons today. This has been on my wish list for a while 💕 #clematis #princessdiana
Afternoon Julie @vec shame I really don't need anymore clematis well I don't think I do I like this one though 😉 did they have anything else might pop over 😘
Not a huge amount of anything exciting there at the moment @jadojado29 A few pots of orange or red Asiatic lillies for £1 is their best offering if you don't want a clematis
Cant believe they have got that variety in 💕💕💕
Nor could I @keely I'm a bit chuffed 💕
I would be too its soon grows as mines shot up at least 3' in 6 weeks no flowers yet may have to wait til next year 💕
These are 2 to 3ft already. So cheap at £5 each @Keely Now to decide where to squeeze them in. I've put in so many clematis this year. Hopefully there will be a riot of colour next year 😍
My mysterious mixed up #clematis-princess-diana is doing it’s usual trick of a different flower at the bottom before it’s flowers as it should do at the top. Think we’ve decided over the years that it’s to do with how it was grafted
