When this first started to open, it looked almost jet black and I wasn’t sure I liked it. Now it is fully open and I’ve seen the glorious orange centres, I am ecstatic. First flowers. 14-07-19. #purple #butterfly-friendly #butterflybush #buddleja #buddleia #darkknight

@kez001uk thanks! I hadn’t thought about it, but you are right - this one is over a foot 🤔 they took aaaaaggggggeeeees to grow and open so maybe they just wanted to be big 🤷‍♀️

I thought #buddleia-darknight was only a #plantforpollinators when it was in #flower but today I had my first two butterflies in the garden and they both spent over a minute on the bush. Does that mean they can feed on it even when it is closed like this? #ButterflyBush #Buddleja #Wildlife #Question 23-06-19
